Has your business outgrown its structure and leadership?
For owner-led companies at the inflection point, we design the architecture beneath the business — strategy, systems, sales, finance, leadership, and culture working as one — so hard-won growth endures.
We build businesses and the people who steward them.
Why growth starts to feel like friction.
You built the business for freedom and impact. Past a certain size, the very systems that got you here start working against you. Does any of this sound familiar?
Inconsistent outcomes
Results depend on who's in the room that week.
Quiet complacency
Success makes standing still feel safe.
Culture drift
What made the team great gets diluted by growth.
Strategic drift
The plan exists, but the day-to-day pulls against it.
Margin pressure
Revenue climbs, but profit doesn't follow.
Leadership fatigue
Every decision still routes through you.
No differentiation
The market sees a commodity, not a category.
Operational chaos
Growth arrives faster than the structure to hold it.
It's not an operations problem. It's an architecture problem.
None of those strains is a verdict on you as a leader. They're the predictable result of complexity scaling faster than capacity — and architecture problems have solutions. That's a fundamentally different kind of help than advice.
Consultants advise. Coaches ask. We build — with you.
Five architectures. One system.
Businesses outgrow their structure and their leadership. BDG architects both.
The real constraint on growth is leadership capacity.
Most firms train the executive and hope it spreads. We build capacity at every level of the organization — woven into how the business already runs.
We build businesses — and the people who steward them.
A company is a trust before it is an asset. The architecture we build is meant to outlast us: to make the business endure, strengthen the people inside it, and be run with integrity long after the engagement ends.
We've sat in the seat you're sitting in.
Max A. “Andy” Johnson founded BDG in 2015 after more than fifteen years in the C-suite — leading companies across manufacturing, distribution, contracting, staffing, and renewable energy, often as the non-family president of a family-owned business. He has carried the payroll, owned the P&L, and lived the moment when growth outruns the architecture beneath it.
That experience became BDG’s conviction: sustainable growth is never a matter of effort alone. It requires intentional Business Architecture — and leaders equipped to steward it. Today, Andy partners with owners and executive teams to design stronger businesses, develop leadership capacity, and build organizations that endure.
He holds a B.S. in Business from Presbyterian College with executive education from Harvard and MIT, and is a member of C12 — where faith, stewardship, and business leadership meet.
Start a conversation.
No pitch, no obligation — a plain conversation about where your business stands, which architecture to reinforce first, and whether we're a fit.
